Two ways to reach us
Best for anything with detail: which courses cover which areas, quotes for a team, invoices and receipts, how the Bulk Buy Offer works, or trouble getting into a course you have already bought.

Best if you would rather fill in a few fields than compose an email from scratch. It opens your own email app with everything already written, so you can read it back before you send it.

Read the course pages first
Each profession has its own page, setting out the concerns that Council or Board often raises and the courses written to its own code and standards, with a filter that narrows them by the type of concern. If you know which body is writing to you, start there and choose in your own time. Every Council and Board publishes its own guidance for practitioners who have had a concern raised about them, and each profession page links to it.

Teams and organisations
Buying for more than one person
Practices, hospitals, health services, primary health organisations and education teams buy places for several practitioners at once. Tell us how many people and which areas you need covered, and we will put a quote together.
- Five or ten courses for one person The Bulk Buy Offer is a fixed price for any five or any ten courses and needs no quote. The price and the saving are set out on the Bulk Buy Offer page.
- Several colleagues Email the number of places and the areas you want covered. We will quote and can invoice your organisation.
- Course licences and the member discount scheme Two arrangements, and an organisation may hold both. Both are set out on the Course Licences & Member Access page, and the contractual detail is in our terms and conditions.
- Invoices and purchase orders Tell us what your finance team needs on the invoice and we will raise it that way.
Handled in confidence
What happens to what you tell us
Many people who write to us are in the middle of something difficult. It is reasonable to want to know where your message goes before you send it.
- We do not contact your regulator Nothing you tell us is shared with any Council or Board, a Professional Conduct Committee or the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. We have no reporting relationship with any of them.
- We do not contact your employer Unless your employer is the one buying the course and has asked us to confirm completion, and you are told that before the course opens.
- Your enquiry is not marketing data We answer your question. We do not add you to a mailing list because you asked one.
- Courses are taken privately Online courses are worked through on your own device. Nobody is told you have enrolled.

Questions people ask before writing
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people actually ask before they get in touch.
Can you advise me on my own notification?
No. We are not lawyers and we are not your medical defence organisation or professional indemnity insurer. We cannot tell you how to respond to your Council or Board, what to put in a submission, or what the outcome is likely to be.
For advice on your own matter, speak to your indemnity insurer, your union or professional association, or a lawyer; most of them can also point you to independent support services for practitioners. What we can answer is which courses cover which areas, how access works, and anything about buying.
How do I work out which courses I need?
Start with the page for your profession. Each one lists the concerns that come up often for that profession and the courses written to that Council’s or Board’s standards, with a filter that narrows them by the type of concern.
If you have read the page and are still unsure, write to us and say which areas you want covered. You do not need to tell us anything about your own matter for us to answer that.
Is my enquiry confidential?
Yes. We never tell a Council or Board, a Professional Conduct Committee or the Tribunal that you have written to us, bought a course or taken one. We keep no register any of them can search and no regulator has an account with us.
How we handle what you send is set out in our privacy policy.
I have a deadline in a few days. Is it worth starting now?
Usually yes. The courses are self-paced and open the moment payment clears, so there is nothing to schedule and nobody to wait for. Each carries 2 CPD hours issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses.
No course from us or from anyone else determines or influences the outcome of a notification. If a deadline is the reason you are buying, say so in your message and we will tell you plainly whether we think it helps.
Will a course change the outcome of my notification?
No, and we will not tell you otherwise. No provider’s course determines or influences what a Council or Board decides. Anyone who tells you differently is selling you something.
What a course can do is help you think through what happened and how you would approach it now. What you do with that is yours.
Can I buy courses for colleagues or for my team?
Yes. Practices, hospitals, health services, colleges and education teams buy places for several practitioners at once. Tell us how many people and which areas you need covered and we will put a quote together.
The arrangements are set out on the Course Licences & Member Access page.
I have bought a course but cannot get into it
Email us from the address you bought it with and say which course. That is almost always enough for us to find the purchase and put it right.
Access runs twelve months from the date of purchase. Inside that period you may return to the course as often as you like, including after completing it.
Can I have an invoice or receipt for my employer?
Yes. Tell us what your finance team needs on the invoice — a purchase order number, a particular billing address — and we will raise it that way.
If your organisation is buying on your behalf, it sees your assignment, completion and date, and nothing else.
I am not registered in New Zealand. Are these courses relevant?
They are written to the codes and standards the New Zealand Councils and Boards publish under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and use New Zealand terminology throughout, so they suit a practitioner registered in New Zealand best. A practitioner whose registration has lapsed, or who is applying to return to the register, can take them too.
Healthcare Ethics New Zealand serves practitioners registered in New Zealand. If you are registered elsewhere, write and say where, and we will point you at the right programme.
Still not sure
Ask us anything
If you have read this far and still are not sure what you need, write and say so in as few words as you like. We would rather answer a short question than have you buy the wrong thing.
