Choose your Council or Board
Courses built around your Council’s or Board’s code
Each page sets out the concerns that authority commonly raises, its own committees by their own names, the 24 courses that address them, and how completion can form part of a remediation plan.
Buying several
Any five for NZ$850 or any ten for NZ$1,400
Courses are NZ$200 individually. If you are building a remediation plan you will usually need several, and any five are NZ$850 together (15 per cent off), any ten NZ$1,400 — ten for the price of seven, a saving of NZ$600. Adding a face-to-face course via Zoom to the ten is a further NZ$1,000, so NZ$2,400 in total.
Many people responding to a notification take the Core Set — insight, reflection, remediation, ensuring no repeat, the fitness to practise process itself, and rebuilding trust — and add courses for the specific concern raised.
How it works
From choosing a course to submitting your evidence
Four steps, and you can complete all of them the same day.
Open your profession’s page, add its Core Set, then use its concern selector to match what has actually been raised. Check out securely.
Work through each course at your own pace, fully online and available at any hour. Every course includes reflective quizzes and a post-course assessment.
On completion, download the certificate immediately. It shows the course title, 2 CPD hours, your name and the date, issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses.
Send the certificates, and the reflection you have written from them, to your indemnity insurer, your lawyer, your employer, your Council or Board, or a Professional Conduct Committee.
Why structured CPD
Why a dated, structured course matters
Councils and Boards weigh insight, reflection and remediation, evidenced. A course completed on a named subject, with a dated certificate, is one of the clearest ways to show you took that seriously.
A dated record
Every certificate is issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses and carries the course title, the hours and the date. The certificate, together with your own reflection, is what goes into a remediation plan or a written response.
Available immediately
Access the moment you enrol. No waiting and no scheduling, which matters when you need to show that you acted promptly.
Written by a clinician
Courses are written and reviewed by a practising doctor with postgraduate training in healthcare law and ethics, not assembled from generic compliance material.
Written to the code you are judged against
Each course addresses the clauses often cited in notifications across the Councils and Boards, so the reflection you write answers the question actually being asked.
Honest about what it is not
No New Zealand Council or Board accredits any provider’s courses, and no course determines an outcome. We say so on every page, because a practitioner who is told otherwise is being misled.
Online, on any device
Self-paced and browser-based, so a course can be completed in short sittings around clinical work.

FAQs
Online CPD courses: frequently asked questions
The questions we are often asked, by people who have just received a letter and by people building CPD evidence in the ordinary way.
What are online remediation courses for New Zealand health practitioners?
Self-paced online courses in ethics, professionalism, professional boundaries, probity and fitness to practise, taken to evidence insight, reflection and remediation to a Council or Board, a Professional Conduct Committee, an employer or the Tribunal. Many people arrive because a concern has been raised — a notification, a complaint, a competence review — and they need to put that evidence in writing. Others take them as ordinary CPD towards recertification. There are 44 courses in the catalogue, 24 on each profession’s page, NZ$200 each, every one carrying 2 CPD hours and a certificate issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses on completion.
Who issues the certificate?
Healthcare Ethics Courses, the parent body of Healthcare Ethics New Zealand. Each course awards 2 CPD hours and issues a dated certificate on completion, which you can download immediately and include in a remediation plan, a written response, or your CPD portfolio. More on the issuer here.
Does my Council or Board approve or endorse these courses?
No. No New Zealand Council or Board approves, accredits or endorses courses from any provider, including us, and none keeps an approved list. What these courses give you is a dated record of what you studied and when. The weight comes from the reflection you write alongside it.
Which courses should I take?
Go to your profession’s page. Each one carries 24 courses grouped by the type of concern raised, and a Core Set that applies whatever the concern — insight, reflection, remediation, ensuring no repeat, the fitness to practise process itself, and rebuilding trust. If you are not sure which heading your concern falls under, each profession page has a selector for exactly that, or contact us and we will point you at the right ones.
How quickly can I start after purchasing?
Immediately. Access is granted as soon as payment is confirmed, with no waiting period and no scheduling. If you are facing a deadline or a hearing date, you can begin a course and obtain a certificate the same day.
How many CPD hours does each course award?
Every course awards 2 CPD hours. How they count towards your own requirement depends on your Council’s or Board’s recertification programme — some count hours, some ask for a plan and reflection instead; most recognise self-directed learning of this kind, and we say so plainly rather than let you assume otherwise.
Do I have to be registered to take a course?
No. There is no registration requirement and no entry criteria. The courses are written for registered practitioners, but they are equally available to students, to practitioners whose registration is currently suspended or lapsed, and to anyone preparing to return to practice.
Is there a discount for buying several courses?
Yes. Any five online courses are NZ$850 together, and any ten NZ$1,400, against NZ$200 each individually — 15 per cent off the five, ten for the price of seven. The ten-course bundle with a face-to-face course via Zoom is NZ$2,400, with the live course reduced to NZ$1,000 inside it; the face-to-face option is not offered with the five. Both are on the Bulk Buy Offer page.
Can I buy courses for a colleague or a team?
Yes. Organisations can buy seats in a block and assign them to named people, with completion reporting, or set up a member discount for the people a body represents. See Course Licences & Member Access.
Do you run live courses as well?
Yes. Four face-to-face courses run via video link on Zoom — probity and ethics, ethics and professionalism, professional boundaries, and a reflection workshop — each carrying 5 CPD hours. The same four can be run for a whole team; see Face-to-Face Team Training.
Official guidance
Read your Council’s or Board’s own code
If a concern has been raised about you, read your own authority’s code or standards directly as well as anything written about it. Remediation written against the named clause, rather than in general terms, is answering the question actually being asked.
Healthcare Ethics New Zealand is an independent provider of remediation courses. We are not affiliated with, accredited by, or endorsed by any Council, Board or other responsible authority, or by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. Certificates are issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses.
